Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while emphasizing patient and employee safety.
Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to the patient’s diagnosis, collaborating with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information and status updates for team conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly as per policy.
- Participate in the rehabilitation program and ensure effective patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Initiate and manage discharge planning from the day of admission, including patient education.
- Communicate important changes in patient status to relevant care providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide direction and supervision to ancillary nursing staff, fostering a positive team environment.
- Promote personal and environmental safety in line with nursing policies and procedures.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning, engaging in team-building activities.
- Maintain effective communication with management regarding service needs and supplies.
- Assume charge responsibility as requested after the orientation period.
- Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience preferred.
