Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse

Schedule

Scheduled for 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation. No guarantee of hours. No call required.

Job Description

This nursing position is within a Progressive Care Unit of a 15-bed unit, including a 3-bed step down ICU and 12 telemetry beds. The nurse will provide primary nursing care, telemetry monitoring, and will be responsible for reading telemetry strips and conducting fingerstick blood sugars.

Responsibilities

• Deliver primary nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit.
• Monitor telemetry and perform telemetry strip readings.
• Conduct fingerstick blood sugar tests as needed.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort at all times.
• Float to other acute units including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year, with a preference for Progressive Care and telemetry experience.
• Must possess a current Hawaii nursing license by the start of the assignment.
• ACLS certification preferred. Current PALS and NIHSS certifications are also preferred.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
