Schedule
They will work 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, four days during the week, with roughly four weeknight and one weekend call shift.
Job Description
The Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of Cardiac, Vascular, Respiratory, and Renal physiology and pathology. The role includes assisting with orientation and training of Cath Lab staff, being responsible for special projects, and adhering to the principles of medical ethics in the Cath Lab setting.
Responsibilities
- Recognizes and interprets ECG changes, including lethal arrhythmias and myocardial infarctions.
- Manages documentation of cardiac medications and their pharmacokinetics.
- Monitors diagnostic cardiac catheter procedures and intervenes during lethal arrhythmias using ACLS protocols.
- Identifies coronary anatomy in cine angiographic projections and cardiac pressure waveforms.
- Calculates basic hemodynamic parameters and performs cardiac outputs, O2 saturations, and ACT measurements.
- Understands the necessary supplies for diagnostic procedures and can set up the procedure table.
- Describes the fundamental steps in diagnostic heart catheterization and supervises patient safety during procedures.
- Demonstrates familiarity with extraction devices and explains the indications for advanced therapies.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a cath/EP lab.
- Ability to scrub for all types of heart catheterizations, peripheral vascular, structural heart, and EP procedures.
- Knowledge of Merge Hemo documentation system preferred.
- Preferably RCIS or RCES licensure; ARRT licensure acceptable with relevant scrub experience.
- ACLS and BLS required.
