Job Description

The CVICU Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Cardiac Vascular Intensive Care Unit. The role requires advanced clinical skills and the ability to manage complex patient cases, including post-operative open heart surgeries and patients on advanced cardiac devices.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for patients recovering from cardiac surgery.
• Monitor and manage patients with cardiac devices such as Impella, IABP, and CRRT.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary support teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services.
• Conduct thorough assessments and documentation of patient conditions in the Epic system.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of current CVICU experience; SICU experience may be considered with CVICU training.
• Active NJ or Compact RN License.
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Experience with post-operative open heart recovery and monitoring of complex cardiac patients.
