Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30. Requires working every other weekend and holidays as needed.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the High Risk Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit will be responsible for providing nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The candidate will function as a Baby Nurse during deliveries and continue care of newborns until transfer to postpartum. The unit will prioritize adherence to AWHONN guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients.
- Assist with all types of high-risk deliveries, including vaginal deliveries and C-sections.
- Conduct newborn assessments and provide necessary newborn care including administering Vitamin K injections.
- Circulate for cesarean sections, manage anticoagulation therapy, and support breastfeeding.
- Utilize electronic fetal monitoring systems for patient assessments.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including respiratory services and pharmacy.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in high-risk L&D or similar fast-paced environments. Five years preferred.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse.
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP; preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate.
- Must provide supervisory references and proof of required certifications with submission.
- Experience with EPIC charting system and electronic fetal monitoring is mandatory.
