Job Description

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for independently performing a variety of radiation therapy treatments, simulations, treatment planning, and fabrication of specialized treatment aides in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the physician. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed by the patient groups. The position requires proficiency on a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator and ARIA EMR, with the capacity to treat 25-30 patients per day. Treatment modalities include 3D, IMRT, SBRT, and electrons, with set-ups covering all treatment sites as part of a comprehensive cancer center.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiation therapy treatments and simulations as per physician instructions.
• Conduct treatment planning and fabricate specialized treatment aides.
• Assess patient data and interpret information to meet age-specific needs.
• Work collaboratively with oncology services to provide comprehensive care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2 years of progressively responsible imaging technologist/specialist experience.
• Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification in Radiation Therapy (T).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current State of Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license as a Radiation Therapist.
