Job Description

The competent Nurse in the Pediatric ICU provides both routine and complex care for pediatric patients, particularly those requiring ventilator support. The role demands independent practice while being aware of various clinical situations. This position is designed for those looking to develop their skills in managing complex patient needs, coordinating care, and assisting in achieving long-range goals.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care following the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols; monitor side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess patient and family learning needs; provide necessary education and resources.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in pediatric nursing, specifically in an ICU setting.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (AHA only).
• Must hold an active RN License in the state of Texas or compact license.
