Schedule

36 or 48-hour rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call per unit need.

Job Description

The position is within a unit dedicated to patients aged 18 and up who are in need of intensive symptom management at the end of life. Candidates must possess strong IV and wound care skills and exhibit compassion while managing patients with complex needs and families in crisis. Astute assessment skills are mandatory to advocate for patients who often cannot communicate their needs. The unit also provides care for general medicine overflow.

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive symptom management for end-of-life patients
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Utilize patient-controlled analgesia pumps
• Conduct thorough assessments and advocate for patients' needs
• Support families during critical moments

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN License (ONLY NY Licenses are accepted)
• Two (2) years of recent experience in palliative or acute medical/surgical settings
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Experience with patient-controlled analgesia pumps or CHPN certification is highly desired
