1st Acute Med/Surg Registered Nurse - Part Time

Schedule

This position requires part-time availability for two 12-hour shifts, with day or night shifts scheduled as needed by the client. Weekend and holiday work is required.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN will assess patient needs, develop a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provide direct care, evaluate patient progress, and coordinate care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The Med/Surg RN will develop specialized skills in cardiac care, including telemetry monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family needs through active listening and observation.
• Create a culturally relevant, individualized plan of care in collaboration with the care team.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices and initiate changes as necessary.
• Provide education to patients and families on self-care and lifestyle changes for health and healing.
• Document all educational interactions and patient responses.
• Foster teamwork and mutual respect among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Comply with infection prevention strategies and maintain competencies for the assigned population.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• New York State Registered Nurse Licensure.
• Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
• Minimum of one year experience serving in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse.
