X-Ray Technologist

This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, Days, on call/callback, holidays per unit needs (5x8hrs). Must be able to report within 30 minutes to on-call shifts.
Job Description
The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Responsibilities
- Verify patients' identity and review physicians' orders before x-ray procedures.
- Use x-ray equipment to take radiographic images as per physicians' orders.
- Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address their questions.
- Position patients appropriately, including lifting and moving as necessary.
- Handle radiologic equipment properly and maintain a low dose to patients.
- Observe and interpret patients' status to meet age-specific needs.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
- Notify management of any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
- Utilize electronic patient information systems to verify patient data accurately.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
- Practice the dual patient identifier procedure to ensure safety.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and NYS license (or ability to obtain prior to starting).
- Minimum of 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience.
- Level 1 trauma center experience.
- Experience with c-arm/o-arm in the past 8 months.
- Recent OR experience required.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to lift or move patients and stand for extended periods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- A compassionate and patient demeanor, with the ability to work as a team player.
