Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed. This role operates within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision, evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans. The therapist will explain the purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment (both invasive and non-invasive).
• Administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation as prescribed.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and patient suctioning using various techniques.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy, performing routine chest x-ray reviews.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care procedures.
• Perform tracheostomy care and arterial punctures according to policy.
• Maintain and monitor mechanical ventilation on various equipment.
• Accurately document treatment information and communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Candidates must possess a valid Respiratory Therapy license and relevant certifications. Experience in a clinical setting is strongly preferred.
