Job Description

The Department of Sterile and Materials Processing is a state-of-the-art instrument processing and sterilizing facility. This department is responsible for the decontamination, High Level Disinfection (HLD), assembly, sterilization, and distribution of clean and sterile surgical instruments, trays, and pans using advanced capital equipment. These instruments are tracked by Getinge's T-DOC barcode system.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, assembles, packages, and sterilizes surgical instrument pans and procedural trays while consulting with the Processing Manager as needed.
• Operates steam sterilizers and performs simple maintenance, checks time, pressure, and temperature gauges.
• Decontaminates surgical instruments and equipment, handling infectious waste according to established protocols.
• Receives and stores supplies, checks stock against requisitions, and maintains inventory levels.
• Responsible for quality assurance on all sterile supplies and instruments, completing critical documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY)
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
• Experience in a large hospital (500 beds plus)
• Travel experience (minimum of 6 months)
• Two professional references from the last two assignments

Schedule

This position requires night, weekend, and holiday availability, with on-call/callback as per unit needs. The expected workload is 40 hours per week.
