Job Description

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care in accordance with current nursing knowledge and Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards. The nurse utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients from neonate to geriatric age groups. This position may require scheduled on-call assignments.

Responsibilities

• Triage patients and determine priorities of care based on physical and psycho-social needs.
• Conduct hourly rounding in the department and half-hour rounding in the waiting room.
• Develop and implement a plan of care based on ongoing assessments.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available and in working order.
• Manage complications and emergencies per established policies and procedures.
• Recognize changes in patient health status and guide appropriate care interventions.
• Document patient responses to interventions and education provided.
• Educate patients and families about their health status, treatment options, and discharge planning.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (renewed every two years).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (renewed every two years).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (renewed every two years).
• Valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
