Job Description

Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Interventional Radiology Technician specializes in performing invasive procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.

Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the examination.
• Obtain additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.
• Prepare prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration.
• Review clinical data, analyze anatomical structure, and assist Radiologist in complex diagnostic invasive procedures.
• Prepare and set up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment.
• Ensure adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.
• Assess patient condition before, during, and following all procedures.
• Manually control equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
• Assist with the training of new personnel and/or students assigned to the division.
• Perform quality assurance procedures as appropriate.
• Documentation in medical records and within the radiology information system.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 3 years previous experience in a similar role.
• Experience in a Trauma Level 1 facility.
• Cath Lab experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• ARRT certification (with advanced registry in CI, VI, or CV preferred).
