Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. They evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans, explaining procedures and treatment purposes to patients while providing necessary discharge education.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment and devices to manage prescribed medications, oxygenation, and ventilation.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance and suctioning via various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography, and review patient chest x-rays as needed.
• Execute pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory procedures, including bronchoscopy and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures, assess efficiency of ventilation, and communicate findings with the healthcare team.
• Document all pertinent treatment information in respiratory care records and patient charts.
• Maintain accurate equipment operation and assist with preventative maintenance.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Current Respiratory Care licensure is required. Additional certifications in BLS and ACLS are preferred.
