This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Full Time Days or Nights as scheduled by the client (3x12s), EOW, and Holidays + 2 On Call shifts per 4 weeks.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively provides direct care. They apply appropriate interventions and evaluate patient progress in life-threatening and routine emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Connect with patients and families during triage, establishing rapport and identifying management priorities according to Triage Standards.
• Conduct primary assessments of critical need and document deviations from norms, identifying necessary interventions.
• Encourage mutual trust and cooperation among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments; refer for post-emergency care.
• Understand and address the psychosocial needs of patients, including any suspicions of domestic violence or abuse.
• Maintain clear communication with patients and their support systems throughout their emergency visit.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
• One year of acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse
