Job Description

The Department of Sterile and Materials Processing is a state-of-the-art facility responsible for instrument processing and sterilization. The role involves assisting in the decontamination, high-level disinfection, assembling, sterilization, and distribution of clean and sterile surgical instruments, trays, and pans.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, assembles, packages, and sterilizes surgical instrument pans and procedural trays.
• Operates steam sterilizers; checks time, pressure, and temperature gauges to achieve proper levels.
• Decontaminates surgical instruments and equipment, preventing cross-contamination.
• Receives, documents, and maintains inventory of surgical supplies, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Responsible for quality assurance on sterile supplies and instruments, performing daily checks and documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)
• BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in sterile processing
• Experience in large hospital settings (500 beds or more)
• Travel experience for a minimum of 6 months
• Two professional references from the last two assignments
