Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized care plans.
• Identify teaching needs and goals from nursing assessments and collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely patient information at team conferences and ensure accurate documentation of assessments and interventions.
• Participate in the patient rehabilitation program while focusing on education and quality outcomes.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
• Communicate changes in patient status to relevant care providers for continuity and safety.
• Provide direction and supervision to nursing personnel and delegate tasks appropriately.
• Contribute positively to the unit’s functioning, ensuring personal and environmental safety.
• Assume charge responsibility when requested after orientation.
• Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS Certification required prior to the first shift (for CIRH only).
• Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience required.
