Central Service Technician – Days

Job Description

The Central Service Technician is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment. This role requires a conscientious individual capable of handling pressure assignments, clerical tasks, and other duties within the department. Maintaining confidentiality and supporting the mission, vision, and values of the organization is essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper operation of autoclave units prior to use on a daily basis.
• Conduct biological and chemical tests at the beginning of each day shift and record results.
• Inspect gas and steam autoclaves for visible signs of malfunction.
• Process contaminated instruments and supplies returned to Central Service.
• Use knowledge of sterilization principles to correctly wrap or package items.
• Assist with training and in-services for new and long-term employees.
• Apply aseptic techniques in daily work assignments.
• Store supplies and equipment in appropriate locations while caring for instruments and special procedure items.
• Ensure proper assembly, packaging, and preparation of all applicable supplies for sterilization.
• Handle the loading, operation, and cleaning of sterilizers and general equipment.
• Receive and deliver surgical supplies while filling requisition requests.
• Order weekly department supplies as needed.
• Maintain necessary records and documentation related to job functions.
• Stay informed and involved by attending meetings and reading relevant communications.
• Perform all duties in compliance with safety policies.
• Adhere to the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures.
• Complete other duties relevant to the position and department as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Certified CRCST and CER.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Effective communication with department personnel and other medical staff.
