Shift: 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; must be available for after-hours on-call support, Monday through Friday.

Job Description

Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Interventional Radiologic Technologist specializes in the performance of invasive procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.

Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare patients for examination.
• Obtain additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.
• Prepare prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration to patients.
• Assist the Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures.
• Prepare and set up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for the procedure.
• Manage the supply inventory, ensuring adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.
• Assess patient condition before, during, and after all procedures.
• Manually control equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information for the area of the body being studied.
• May assist in training new personnel and/or students assigned to the division.
• Demonstrate principles of radiation protection and ensure compliance with safety practices.
• Resolve image exceptions and ensure quality image delivery into PACS.
• Complete all study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
• Utilize independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.
• BLS certification required.
• ARRT registration required with advanced registry in one of the following: Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI), Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI), or Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV).
