Job Description

The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. This role encompasses various essential functions which include:

Responsibilities

• Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients and adjusting technical factors as needed.
• Restricts radiation exposure to unaffected parts of the patient using appropriate techniques.
• Performs portable x-ray examinations in various settings, including patient rooms and operating rooms.
• Follows operational procedures for film identification, marking, and processing.
• Maintains the x-ray room in an orderly manner as directed by the department head.
• Prepares and administers radiopaque contrast media under physician guidance.
• Handles administrative responsibilities including scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records.
• Provides assistance to patients with varying needs in accessing x-ray equipment.
• Lifts and moves patients or equipment as required, adhering to safety standards.
• Communicates effectively with patients and caregivers to address individual needs.
• Complies with the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
• Must possess a New Jersey State License.
• Applicant must be able to meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass the examination.
• Orthopedic office experience preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required.
