8-hour shifts; 0615-1445 Mon-Fri; no weekends, holidays, or call.

Job Description

The Surgical Center Nurse is responsible for assessing and responding to the patient’s individual physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs. Acting as a patient advocate, the nurse utilizes professional nursing skills and judgment to implement care and communicate assessments to ensure coordinated patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assess and respond to patients' individual needs, ensuring advocacy.
• Implement nursing care and treat identified problems using judgment and skills.
• Communicate patient assessments effectively to relevant staff.
• Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic measures and IV therapy skills.
• Transcribe and implement physician orders accurately and efficiently during patient admissions.
• Document patient information accurately and timely in clinical records.
• Provide patient and family education and instruction on relevant topics.
• Manage supplies in accordance with policy to contain costs without compromising care.
• Assist with housekeeping duties as required.
• Provide nursing care in the PACU, maintaining airway and monitoring vital signs.
• Utilize knowledge of anesthesia supplies, assisting with nerve blocks and emergency protocols.
• Participate in committee meetings, offering suggestions for improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
