Job Description

Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Invasive Radiologic Technologist specializes in the performance of invasive procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.

Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them accordingly.
• Obtain additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.
• Prepare prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration.
• Review clinical data, analyze anatomical structures, set up equipment, and assist Radiologist with complex diagnostic invasive procedures.
• Prepare and set up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment.
• Ensure adequate supplies are available and properly stored.
• Actively assess patient condition before, during, and after procedures.
• Manually control equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
• Assist in training new personnel and/or students in the division.
• Demonstrate principles of radiation protection and perform quality assurance procedures as appropriate.
• Complete all necessary documentation in the medical record and radiology information system.
• Utilize independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques and safety practices.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role with neurological case experience.
• Must maintain required hours of continuing medical education.
• Certification in Healthcare Provider (BLS) required.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with the advanced registry in Vascular Interventional Radiography preferred.
