Labor and Delivery Nurse

Schedule

12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team. This position involves delivering care to patients in an acute care setting, focusing on labor, delivery, and postpartum needs. The ideal candidate will be capable of handling both high-risk and low-risk deliveries, working collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Perform vaginal exams and manage labor progression.
• Circulate C-sections and assist anesthesiology during procedures.
• Conduct fetal monitoring and manage electronic fetal monitoring systems.
• Administer medications and titrate drips as necessary (Magnesium, Pitocin, insulin, blood).
• Handle newborn transitions and provide care for the baby for two hours post-delivery.
• Educate patients and families about labor and delivery processes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification
• NRP Certification
• Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
• Experience in labor and delivery nursing with a focus on high-risk patients.
• Proficiency in performing vital procedures including IV starts and blood draws.
• Spanish-speaking skills are a plus.
