Job Description

The Registered Nurse specializing in perioperative practice performs nursing activities in the pre-anesthesia, post-anesthesia Phase I, and post-anesthesia Phase II care of the patient's surgical experience. The nurse also monitors local-only patients in the OR and provides sedation for select procedures. This role ensures the provision of quality care for pre- and post-procedure patients through the utilization of the nursing process, established standards of care, and applicable policies and procedures. The peri-anesthesia nurse acts as the patient advocate and is responsible for the direction and supervision of any personnel assigned. The position requires being on call for the Post-Anesthesia Unit on a regularly scheduled rotation and supports the hospital's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia care activities.
• Monitor local-only patients in the OR.
• Provide sedation for select procedures.
• Advocate for patients and guide the care team.
• Maintain adherence to established standards of care and hospital policies.
• Be available on-call for the Post-Anesthesia Unit as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Current registered nurse licensure with specialization in perioperative nursing preferred. Additional certifications in anesthesia care may be required.
