Job Description

Under the supervision of the sterile processing supervisor, the Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for performing duties related to the basic function of the department, including but not limited to:

Responsibilities

• Follow hospital policies and procedures.
• Properly clean and prepare instrumentation for sterilization.
• Transport soiled and sterile instruments to the operating room area.
• Maintain competency in sterile processing processes.
• Maintain good communication with co-workers and supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the SPD Supervisor, charge technician, and/or Director.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS certification is mandatory within three months.
• CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Department Technician) is encouraged within 18 months of hire.
